The Examinations and Inspections (E&I) Department has an exciting opportunity and is interviewing candidates in all District locations for an open full-time Information Technology (IT) Examiner/Risk Specialist position. This role requires the exercise of essential examiner skills, including supervisory knowledge and judgment required to assess and develop conclusions and recommendations, primarily within IT supervision, for community and regional banking organizations and other supervised entities. We are seeking individuals who currently hold, or have made substantial progress toward, an examiner commission from a Federal or State banking regulatory agency, or have significant IT examination, IT audit, or information security experience in the banking industry; possess strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills; and enjoy working in a dynamic team environment. The position is available in the Kansas City, Denver, Omaha, or Oklahoma City offices. Please submit a cover letter and include location preference(s).

Key Activities:
  • Performs and/or leads supervisory activities for financial institutions or other supervised entities, which are designed to assess key IT and cyber-related risk exposures and corresponding risk management practices for regional and community banking organizations.
  • Gathers and analyzes information from multiple sources and tools, as well as engages in challenging discussions with executive level management and boards of directors, to evaluate risks and risk management processes within supervised organizations. Evaluates the strategic direction and performance of supervised institutions management teams and boards of directors.
  • Applies sound supervisory judgment and considers multiple viewpoints to formulate appropriate supervisory conclusions and recommendations based on large amounts of subjective and potentially conflicting or sensitive information.
  • Assimilates and prioritizes supervisory issues from multiple disciplines to support a comprehensive and integrated supervisory assessment by coordinating, collaborating, and building consensus with all stakeholders around the impact of specialized risk areas on the overall assessment of the organization.
  • Prepares, or coordinates the preparation of, written reports or other correspondence to communicate findings and matters of supervisory interest to executive level management and boards of directors, and recommends supervisory follow-up.
  • Specialized knowledge may include completion of rigorous and structured training through the Systems Examiner Commissioning Program, and/or a combination of relevant industry experience, specialized certifications, and continuing professional education.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree with emphasis in computer information systems, business, accounting, finance, or economics, or equivalent work experience.
  • Active or dormant examiner commission and/or equivalent IT-related certifications such as Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) strongly desired.
  • Ability to obtain examiner credentials required.
  • Typically requires two or more years of banking/industry and/or regulatory experience.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in utilizing and manipulating data, including aptitude to quickly learn functionality of core automation and work process tools utilized by the department is preferred.
  • Position may require travel for extended periods of time; up to 50 percent.
